HDMI video issues can manifest themselves in a variety of ways, whether it be no video at all, or video with artifacts such as solid lines through the image, "snow-like" or "sparkly" speckled dots, along with many other different variations. In many cases, these issues can be resolved by following one or more of the steps below.

Try an Alternate HDMI Cable

HDMI cables can fail regardless of their perceived quality or cost. Using a different HDMI cable is one of the easiest and quickest troubleshooting steps you can employ to try and resolve these types of issues. If you're using an after-market cable, try using the HDMI cable that came bundled with your OPPO player and see if the issue persists.

Turn Off Deep Colour

In some cases, having Deep Colour enabled may result in one of the image anomalies described above. This most commonly occurs when the television you are connecting to does not support Deep Colour, or if the HDMI cable you are using does not have enough bandwidth available to output the Deep Colour information.

  1. From the Setup Menu, select Video Setup.
  2. Scroll down and select HDMI Options.
  3. Ensure that Deep Colour is set to Off for the HDMI output in use.

Simplify the HDMI Chain
If you are using an HDMI switch or are running an HDMI cable through a processor or receiver, try connecting the OPPO player directly to your display temporarily to see if the issues persist. If there are no issues when connected directly to your display, begin adding your previously connected equipment back in to the HDMI chain one piece at a time in order to isolate the component that is causing the issue. If the issues persist, ensure that you have followed the previous troubleshooting steps and have tried an alternate HDMI cable and have disabled Deep Colour.

Try an Alternate HDMI Input

Similar to cables failing, HDMI inputs on processors and receivers may also stop working properly over time. If you have no issues with the player when connecting directly to your television, try using an alternate HDMI input on your processor or receiver.
